It was a brutally hot summer day when I wandered into Joshua Tree Saloon with a local friend. How hot, you ask? Well, after only six minutes shirtless outside, I managed to get sunburned--talk about desert heat! So, stepping into this air-conditioned oasis in a desert town I'd never been to before felt like discovering an icy coke in the Sahara. I was ready to set up camp at the bar and not leave for a week. If you're looking for ambiance and character, you've found it here. Imagine the movie 'WaterWorld' with Kevin Costner, but on land, and instead of imprisoning mutants, they serve food and drinks. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, this gastropub is as quirky as it is inviting. The inside bar has that cozy, lived-in feel of small-town New England pubs, which just so happen to be my favorite places to hang out. They've got about 15 beers on tap--exactly what you'd expect from any self-respecting saloon. The menu offers a mix of comfort food and reasonably healthy options, which made choosing a challenge. We settled on the BBQ chicken sandwich and the Signature salad, which is like a chef's salad meeting a Mexican fiesta. Both were delicious and matched the laid-back vibe perfectly. I'll be in the area a few more times this year, so I'm definitely coming back to try their impressive burger selection, including a vegan option that's calling my name. Thumbs up!

Just craving a good old fashioned cheeseburger? Go to JT's Saloon in 29 Palms. Daniel was our waiter and was excellent, by checking in often. We just ordered the smallest cheeseburger which was the 1/4 lb JT. I mean LOOK at the pictures. Absolutely perfect! The fries & ranch dip were delicious too. The ambience is laid back casual and Wild Wild West:) Great place to watch sports, play pool, and munch on some perfect cheeseburgers. Also can't beat the price! PS: Love the 'branding' on top of every bun!!

Visiting Joshua Tree Saloon was a fantastic experience. We got seated right away, with both indoor and outdoor seating options available. Inside, the ambiance was very relaxed, complete with music and TVs showing sports. The outdoor area had a band playing, adding to the fun atmosphere. My boyfriend and I tried the BBQ bacon burger and the house burger. Both were delicious, with the meat perfectly cooked and that charred flavor I love. If you find yourself in the Joshua Tree area, definitely check it out. It's a great spot with good food and a lively atmosphere!

We got to Joshua Tree about 2:30 on a Saturday in summer. The parking and walking through was a bit tricky to find the way in. The whole place was packed- the end of the rush, but it only took a couple minutes to talk to the host and get seated. Both the inside and outside are packed with fun saloon decor. The pool table at the entrance doesn't create the best flow. The mirrored far walk does give a bigger, but slightly more chaotic size. The men's bathroom stall door is not low enough. The staff is friendly, busy, and quick. The bill was very quick. The ac is on but not overly cooling. Beers and sodas come in 16 or 22oz. The one 22oz was $3.25 more than its 16oz version. Their happy hour is 3-6pm Mon- Fri. The salads are big. I got the bbq chicken sandwich. The cheese is $2 extra. The bbq sauce and sandwich were very good. The coleslaw is mayo based, so I got the beans as a side. It had tomatoes, red onions, and jalapeño. The mushroom and Swiss and fries were also very good. The fries were hot and very crispy, well "breaded." 4.25/5
